Presbyterian Medical Clinic, Belize - goals

Mission Statement:

To help the local church grow and mature by ministering health to its members and evangelizing the unreached.

Goals and Objectives:

1.  The clinic is to be an extension of the local Presbytery and churches

            1.  Establish a Board of Directors composed of representatives of the church and community.
            2.  Recruit and train Christian national staff to work in the clinic.
            3.  Seek to make the clinic financially self-sufficient.

2.    Evangelism integrated with health care

1. Have an on-site evangelist from the local church present at the clinic and out-of-clinic activities.
2. Develop a systematic method of "faith promotion" to go along with health promotion in the field. Determine each patient's spiritual status, and have materials and methods developed for all levels of need.
3. Build up relationships with local health providers.

3.  The clinic to be a model for missionary medicine and a training institution.

1.  Seek out new opportunities for MTW short term volunteers. Develop an interest in long-term missions among our visitors.
2.  Train a national medical doctor in primary care medicine and establish him or her in a practice incorporating evangelism and church planting.
